1.  Special Instructions for Services, Packages, and Series

Infant Massage Instruction:  Must book at least a day ahead of time. Infant Massage Instruction done at spa will be given using dolls provided by therapist unless otherwise requested.  If you want to include your baby for the Infant Massage Instruction, in-home instruction is best.  If you want to bring your baby to the spa, you must call me first so we can properly prepare for appointment.  A doctor's written permission to work on your infant(s) may be required.  In-home instruction requires additional time from therapist for travel, setup, etc. and therefore may incur extra fees.  Make sure to clarify if you want to bring infant(s) to spa or do in-home instruction through the notes section when booking online or calling Karin at 949-443-9268.

Pregnancy Massage:  Appointments must be made at least a day in advance and a doctor's permission slip for you to receive massage while pregnant may be required before any massage is given.  Failure to do so may result in you having to rebook appointment and a rebooking fee may apply.

Somatic Movement Therapy:  CLOTHING REQUIRED.  Please wear comfortable loose or stretchy clothing to session which will move easily and keep you modestly covered and warm while doing movements.

Upgrades and Extra Time:  These will only be accepted and done if booked along with another existing standard treatment which is 30 minutes or longer.  These will not be accepted as a stand-alone treatment.

 

2.  Purchasing and Redeeming Gift Cards/Certificates Online

Remember the following when purchasing and redeeming Gift Cards and Certificates:

1.    Even though it is purchased for one service or package, it can easily be used for another service or package.  So if you try to reserve a different service or package other than what is on Gift Card or Certificate, there should be no problem as long as it can cover full cost of booked session.  If it doesn’t cover service completely for any reason, you will have to use another payment method to cover any unpaid balance still remaining.

2.    Don’t forget that at time of purchase you will have to choose how you want to send it to the recipient from options each vendor provides.  if you want to print out Gift Card or Certificate right away for personal delivery, but that option isn't available, email it to yourself so you can print it out first.  When printing them out, make sure any Print Page Headers & Footers settings are set to the equivalent of unchecked, unselected, or "blank" options.    You are responsible for providing the recipients email and text number to send digital formats. 

3.    Currently, the programs I am using will require you contact me to reissue lost Gift Cards or Certificates.  There could be reissue fee charges depending on whether it was a customized item or not.

4.    Per California law, these products don't have an expiration date.  However, any gift card or certificate that has less than a $10 balance on it can be redeemed for cash value remaining on it as far as I am aware of. 

5.     To avoid fraudulent activities and help prevent ID theft, a valid photo ID may be required before Gift Cards and Certificates are accepted for redemption.

 

3.  Getting the Most From Online Services

For now, I do not provide online booking.  If that changes you will see a clear notification on webiste.   Therefore, currently online services are restricted to eGift Cards & Certificates as I set them up.  You will have to pay using whatever payment methods these gift providers require.  For custom packages and sessions for gifts, please call me at 949-443-9268 for assistance.

 

4.  Policies:  General Disclosures, Custom Scheduling Fees, Working On Clients Of Locations I Rent From, Appointment Changes & Cancelations, Refunds, and Failed Payments

These policies apply only to work that I, Karin M. Johnson, provide. For purchases that include any other individual's or business' participation, you must respect their policies. Feel free to ask questions to clarify before appointments start or purchases are finalized. Once appointments begin or purchases are finalized, you agree to abide to the terms of entity who provided service or product.

I reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.

General Disclosures:  By agreeing to see Karin Johnson or any of her associates for therapeutic bodywork purposes, you agree to the following statements --  If you experience any pain or discomfort during this session, you will immediately inform the practitioner so that the pressure and/or strokes may be adjusted to your level of comfort.  You further understand that massage/bodywork should not be construed as a substitute for medical examination, diagnosis, or treatment and that you should see a physician, chiropractor, or other qualified medical specialist for any mental or physical ailment of which you are aware.  You understand that massage/bodywork practitioners are not qualified to perform spinal or skeletal adjustments, diagnose, prescribe, or treat any physical or mental illness, and that nothing said in the course of the session given should be construed as such.  Because massage/bodywork should not be performed under certain medical conditions, you affirm that you have stated all your known medical conditions and answered all questions honestly.  You agree to keep the practitioner updated as to any changes in your medical profile and understand that there shall be no liability on the practitioner’s part or any associates of the practitioner including businesses they work at and any related employees or independent contractors that work with and/or practitioner or said businesses should you fail to do so.  You also understand that only therapeutic bodywork will be administered and practiced and any illicit or sexually suggestive remarks or advances made by you will result in immediate termination of the session, and you will be liable for payment of the scheduled appointment.  Understanding all of this, you give your consent to receive care.

Custom Scheduling Fee:  NOTE THIS FEE IS NO LONGER CHARGED FOR THE TIME BEING.  THIS MAY GET REINSTITUTED IN THE FUTURE TO MEET ANY CHANGES I HAVE WITH BUSINESSES I RENT SPACE FROM.  Custom Scheduling fees are charged when I work outside specific days and/or hours per my agreement with a location I rent from, and in so doing they charge me extra rent.  Custom Scheduling fees help cover expense I incur for such bookings.  I will never charge clients more than I am charged for extra rent.  Custom Scheduling Fees are not included in total cost listed on online bookings.  They are added at time of checkout and payment.  Custom Scheduling Fee charges may change without notice.  If custom scheduling fees will be charged I will do my best to make sure you have an accurate estimate of extra fees that may be due at time of payment for services before you come in but such notice is not guaranteed.  Please call 949-443-9268 with any questions.

Working on Clients of Locations I Rent From:  If you have ever booked an appointment or bought anything from a business I rent from before ever seeing me as a client, I consider you a client of that business and NOT my client.  As a general rule I do not charge my rates or accept payment directly from clients of spas and facilities I rent rooms from if client is requesting a service that is similar enough to a service also offered at the place I rent from, unless there is a mutual agreement between the spa/facility and myself that it is fine to do so.  Generally, if I am offering a service the business I rent from does not offer at the time appointment is made, there is no conflict.  In cases where you buy a service from me as a private client as well as from the place I rent from, you may have to pay us separately and fill out two different Client Intake Forms.  Who the appointment is booked through and who client pays may be determined on a session by session basis depending on my agreement with the business I rent from, what services were bought as well as other factors.  I maintain the right to refuse service to people if so doing breeches my contract or endangers the relationship with the business I am renting from.  The businesses I rent from work hard so independent therapists, like myself, and their private clients can have a safe place for bodywork at a reasonable cost.  So if you have been to a facility I rent from before you ever saw me, please honor that relationship and be honest about it with me when making your appointment so I do not endanger my relationship with colleagues I rent from or my ability to see my other private clients.  Thank you for your cooperation and consideration in this regard.

Appointment Changes & Cancellations:  I understand that unanticipated events happen occasionally in everyone’s life, including mine. In my desire to be effective and fair to all clients, the following policies are honored:

24 hour advance notice is required when canceling and changing an appointment to a different day.  This allows the opportunity for someone else to schedule an appointment. If you are unable to give me 24 hours advance notice, you may be charged up to the full amount of your appointment at my discretion. This amount must be paid prior to your next scheduled appointment.  Give notice by calling 949-443-9268, otherwise you will be charged for the missed appointment.

No-shows.  Anyone who either forgets or consciously chooses to forgo their appointment for whatever reason will be considered a “no-show.” They will be charged for their “missed” appointment.

Late Arrivals.  If you arrive late, your session may be shortened in order to accommodate others whose appointments follow yours. Depending upon how late you arrive, I will then determine if there is enough time remaining to start a treatment. I will try to give you your full time if possible and it fits in with my schedule for the day, but this is not guaranteed.  Regardless of the length of the treatment actually given, you will be responsible for the “full” session. Out of respect and consideration to me and other customers, please plan accordingly and be on time.

Late Starting Time.  To be fair if for some reason we start late due to no fault of your own, I will either be able to perform full scheduled time at agreed rate, if you as the client have time to end later than scheduled, or I will prorate cost of session to match length of session.   If there is another client after you, most likely session will be shortened and charge will be prorated.  Time prorated is based on full 15 minute increments used. 

Refund Policy:  All Sales Are Final. No Refunds On Products And Services Sold. See Details Regarding Exchanges.

Refund Details:  No refunds on products and services sold. All sales are final. Must call 949-443-9268 regarding permission for exchanging services or upgrading services which have been pre-purchased in any form including but not limited to gift certificates, packages, and series. Exchanges are not accepted for products.

Payment Failure Policy:  Any failure of payments to process successfully in full will result in the full amount originally charged plus any related service charges or fees which Karin M. Johnson and/or associated businesses and associates have paid, to collect balances owed.  At Karin M. Johnson's sole discretion, collection may be accomplished by using any payment instruments on file and usable, including but not limited to credit cards, reward programs, deposits, membership benefits, gift cards/certificates, credit balances, etc.  Payment in full of total balance due will be required before any further purchases or appointments may be accepted, rendered, or fulfilled unless other mutually acceptable terms are arranged.
